On a lovely Saturday morning, we drove out to Surprise, AZ to Truman Ranch II. This is a citrus grove that used to be part of University of Arizona agriculture or something... I am not entirely certain. It is now privately owned, although it looked like UofA still had some trees there or a portion of the grove or... like I said, I am not entirely certain! But, the point is- you can go there and pick citrus!
There is an extraordinary variety of citrus- multiple types of grapefruit, many varieties of lemons, and oranges and tangerines. It was so delicious.
There is a tasting table set up so you can decide which varieties you want to pick. You can tell my daughters really enjoyed the outing by the huge smiles on their face. Did I mention all the citrus was extremely delicious?
We picked for about an hour- I think. Then, we packed up our bag-o-fruit and headed back to our car. We returned the "picker" on our way out, no worries.
We ended up with their large bag- 40 lbs- full of 4 varieties of grapefruit, 3 varieties of oranges, 2 or 3 varieties of lemons, and tangerines. Unfortunately, I don't remember the specific variety names; dash-it-all! It was a fun family morning with lots of delicious returns.
